Conversation Coaching
Pronunciation is important but one also needs to use speech to connect with others. Social language improves group communication skills. Whether it's small talk or executive communication, good social skills are necessary to build relationships. Knowing the nuances of conversation is essential for successful sales, interviews, & remote meetings. AAT will help you feel more at ease & fit in at work.
Job Interview Coaching
One of the most important communication skills one can have is knowing how to clearly articulate one’s strengths in a formal interview setting. Your ability to convey confidence and competence can show potential employers who you are, beyond a written resume. The job market is competitive, and strong communication during a job interview will give you the edge when competing for a position.
Accent Reduction Levels 1, 2, & 3
AAT helps foreign-born speakers to reduce an unwanted foreign accent. In seven weeks, speakers gain confidence to speak American English clearly. Our online accent reduction Accent 1 program is for speakers with a mild to moderate accent. The Accent 1 program is also offered in person at some limited locations. Regional Dialect Coaching
Based in Atlanta, Georgia for over 15 years, with an office opening in 2022 in Austin, Texas, AAT is no stranger to Southern dialects. We have helped dozens of native English speakers to reduce an unwanted dialect, and replace it with clear Standard American English (SAE). Some of our clients, after being promoted to management positions, have increasing public speaking demands and want to neutralize their English. We also work with Northeast regional dialect modification and accents which combine regional patterns with British English.
Presentations
In addition to accent reduction and regional dialect modification, AAT works with both foreign-born professionals and native English speakers to polish presentations, Ted Talks, and other speaking engagements for a variety of functions. We also work with high school, undergraduate and graduate students, company employees, managers and executives to edit, write, & practice effective delivery of speeches.
Corporate Communication Skills Training
Advanced Accent Training (AAT) has helped dozens of companies to improve English pronunciation, presentations, and communication skills. Accent training can be provided onsite or via video-conference online accent lessons. The number of companies that we have worked with is too large to list, but includes Applied Materials, Cisco, CDC, Google, IHG, Philips, and Coca Cola to name a few. Accent training has many benefits, such as promoting teamwork and diversity awareness at work.
Healthcare Professional’s Focus
AAT provides training for nurses, physicians, medical researchers, and medical school students. Programs enhance medical pronunciation and improve communication with patients and colleagues. Our lead accent coach, Jon Berton, M.A.-SLP, worked as a speech pathologist at Harbor-UCLA in L.A., and provided training at multiple biotech companies and medical facilities. Actors Workshop
If you are foreign born speaker of English and need to learn an American acccent for a part, or if you are a native speaker who would like to put on a dialect for a script, or reduce a regional dialect by learning Standard American English, AAT can help. We provide a variety of services to actors, from script review and editing, to general voice and diction lessons. Ask us about our two and three session actor’s sampler program to rapidly improve the clarity of your speech using (SAE) Standard American English.
Business Writing
Many of our clients become confident with their pronunciation, but still feel a need to improve their written communication. AAT offers business writing, usually in combination with other accent improvement programs. We can assist with power point presentations, editing speeches, reviewing business proposals and/or important emails.
College Application Assistance
AAT helps high school and undergraduate students to prepare for college visit interviews, as well as providing feedback on college applications. Two recent students were accepted into their top choice of medical schools on the first try. Many other students have improved their presentations for school projects and job interviews after graduation.
